(More customer reviews)I was looking for an entry-level slot car set for my 7 year old son that would be large enough to be fun, yet not so large that I wouldn't have enough room.I settled on a 1:43 scale and it was a choice between a Carrera Go! analog or a Carrera digital system.Having grown up with analog slots, I figured it was time to enter the digital age, and I feel I made a wise decision.The benefit of this digital set is you can run all three cars at the same time.The real beauty of digital is the ability to share lanes and even pass by using one of the two passing lanes.
Unfortunately I do not have a dedicated space for this track, so I must setup and teardown.Each process takes me about 30 minutes.The track is durable, but as with any race set you still need to use caution to avoid breaking it.I'm able to store the track in it's original container, but I'll eventually pick up a small tote to save some time.
The cars run well and are extremely fast at top speed.They are slightly top-heavy so there are a couple of turns that will lead to spin offs if your velocity is too high.It takes a little bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy to keep your cars track-bound and you're able to rack up lot's of consecutive laps.It may take a little more effort for children under 8 to get the hang of it, but with some patience and practice, they'll catch on quickly!Trust me, once you're rolling you'll really enjoy the benefits of digital slot car technology.
Yes, digital technology means more $$.BUT, if you're looking for a system to grow with, the Digital 143 Mario Cart is a good choice.
