(More customer reviews)The best thing about these sets are that they are a great way to extend your track and get cars....and I am giving you fair warning.....if this is your first track, you will want another. I started with one set, and have gotten 3 more since, plus, plus! I liked this set because of the cars, which right there make up almost half the cost of the set. If this is your first Scalextric set, know that the rail guards are not enough to keep the cars from flying off the track and cracking. So, you MUST be careful around the turns. These things are FAST!!! My longest straigh is 28 feet, and these cars really move. Scalextric has excellent customer service as well. I had a problem with a car (the "4-wheel drive" Subaru, and they were great in replacing it...more on that later). Back to the turns.....if ou bank the turns the cars can really hit a good speed, and as you practice you can actually slide them around the turns, and fishtail the end out. It's really great. It is a little disconcerting when you first start to use this because you will probably smell smoke coming from the controllers. Apparently that is normal, and it does go away. I line up tall boxes and books or pillows at the turns at the end of long straights to protect the cars....really, they break. The side mirrors and spoilers are especially vulnerable. Overall my kids love it (and so do I) and so do their friends. I have tried using several different tracks and this is by far the best. Don't waste your money on the cheap stuff you find in TRUS, etc., I had to return every one I bought.
