(More customer reviews)I think I may have ordered this game from Amazon. It's different from most other board games, yet it provides competition and everyone in the family can play. There's no questions and it's basically the dice that determines who wins, so everyone starts out on even ground.
Simple object -roll the dice and move your horse ahead on the track. There are "mud slides" on the track. Landing on these means you cannot switch lanes and must follow through. Also, if another horse is ahead of you, you must change lanes to get around. You can't jump over or knock out the horse (what would Bob Barker and Betty White say?). Reach the finish line first and you win. Since it's a horse race, you should also play for second and third place (the place and show positions).
The game comes with six horses and there's six lanes on the track. You can roll the dice or draw cards to determine how many spaces you move. I came up with a rule not listed in the instructions. If you roll "snake eyes" (two ones), you move BACK two spaces. The rules also explain how you can bet on which nag will win, place or show. This is a different but fun game that the whole family can play. Plus the horse pieces are quite nice.
